The second of the ICD Business Group's monthly Business Networking events. The event is aimed at providing a place for expat business people to informally introduce themselves, network, and exchange information in a relaxed setting. We hope this will also be a time that newcomers to the Dalian business community can be welcomed and begin making the connections necessary to operate successfully in this area.
The Business Networking for May 30 is scheduled for Stroller's Bar behind the Nikko Hotel (originally the Hilton) on ChangJiang Lu. Go around the back of the Nikko and head for the northwest corner of the block.
This month's event is planned to be more in line with what we had originally planned for the monthly meetings to be, namely it will be very informal and relaxed.
Try to get there around 6:00 if you can, bring your cards, and don't forget to tip the waitress.

Background
The objective of the ICD is to provide a social and business network to enrich the living experience for expatriates and their families living in and around Dalian. Following our launch event on February 29th we have been focused on organizing and promoting social and business networking activities for our members and guests from the local community. A key objective of the ICD, in addition to organizing events for our members, is to give back to the local Dalian community by supporting and contributing to local charity and community services for those in need.
Our focus on charitable works has drawn the ICD to a primary school in the Dalian suburb of Pulandian. This school is in need of basic equipment and supplies for the approximately 200 children attending ages Kindergarten to Grade 6 . Although the school structure is new (built in 2002), a heating system was not installed. The present equipment and supplies were salvaged from the previously burned down school. This school serves primarily economically underprivileged families and operates on a budget of 30 RMB per child per year for school supplies, equipment, utilities (open coal heating) and security.
Initially in response to the needs of this school the ICD was organizing this gala charity fundraising event on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Hotel Nikko. However, given the devastating earthquake on May 12 we are also targeting this event to raise funds to support those in dire need in Sichuan province.
If you or your company are interested in sponsoring this charity fundraiser or have any questions about the event please drop us a reply at charity@icdalian.com
June's cooking class focus is on this Asian cuisine. Time: 9:45 am, class starting at 10; meet Rita in the hotel lobby
